Dance and Movement
Dance and Movement classes were brought to Cleveland by professional choreographer (and Cleveland parent) Maureen Whiting.
For many years Ms. Maureen was chair of the Arts Committee, and she led the development of Cleveland's culturally-responsive Cultural Arts curriculum.
A highlight for Ms. Maureen was staging development and choreography of a play created by Arts Committee co-chair Celina Lopez (also a Cleveland parent). The performance reflected the life of California Migrant Workers and the work of Cezar Chavez.
During the Shelter-in-Place order in Spring 2020, Ms. Maureen showcased the work of Oakland dance artists by helping them share their dance skills in video tutorials. The dance lessons by Mr. Terrence and Ms. A'Jenae inspired and uplifted Cleveland kids during a stressful and uncertain time.
